The Forks Engagement Session

Woo! What a treat this was, I’m so thrilled to share Sydney and Colin’s engagement session at The Forks in good old Winnipeg! There are so many reasons this session was special for me. For those of you that don’t know, way back in the day, your girl here lived in Manitoba! Brandon to be precise, but Manitoba as a whole is my old stomping grounds. I spent a fair amount of time growing up visiting Winnipeg (which is about a two and a half-hour drive from where I lived) going to The Forks.

The biggest reason though, why this engagement session was so special to me is, of course, the couple, Syndey and Colin. I grew up knowing Syndey, our moms are best friends to this day since university. They were each other’s maid of honours. So when Sydney asked me to be apart of her wedding day, of course, I had to say yes!

We definitely toyed with the idea of Sydney and Colin coming to Edmonton for their shoot. The Edmonton Oilers are Colin’s favourite hockey team, ssh! Don’t tell the Jets. But I’m happy I went to them in Winnipeg when all was said and done to capture them. It’s fun shooting in a new location and while I grew up not far from Winnipeg I’ve never really photographed there. We walked and took some photographs on the river and inside The Forks. Grabbed some dinner together and waited till it got a little darker out to make some photo magic happen. Sydney and Colin shared dessert, donuts! All while I snapped away, and I was told later that that ended up being Colin’s favourite photo!
