Environmental Background

This is where we use the space around us for your pictures. Often times this can make the portrait feel more relaxed and natural. I can always make any space work.

Digital White

Initially shot on a white backdrop, I then edit the image in photoshop to give it that clean seamless white that blends in with any digital media. This is a great option for companies with lots of people, so that you can have consistency in you head shots for years to come.

Natural White

This is what a natural white backdrop looks like. It offers a clean and simple look that is very easily used in any marketing material you want. But can have a more of a relaxed feel than digital white.

Gray

This slate gray backdrop is neutral and clean, it works great against many different skin tones. This is a great option for corporate clients that want something different than the digital white standard.

Black

This black backdrop is sleek and is my personal favourite. It can offer a great stylish contrast to your headshot while still easily used in any marketing material you wish.

Textured

A great meld of the gray and black backdrops. It gives depth and definition while still being modern and contemporary. I also have this texture in light gray.

• What do I get with my session?

All sessions include my portable studio, set up and shoot time. A selection of different background options I can provide based off of your needs. Fully re-touched. Edited, colour and black & white photographs. High-resolution digital online gallery. Web formatted photographs. Printing rights. No watermark.

• How long does it take to receive the photographs?

You will receive your images approximately 2-3 weeks after your session. Your images are delivered in an online photo gallery. From the gallery, you can download your images directly to your own hard drive.

• How do photo locations work?

My studio is portable!

If you want me to come to your place of business or home to do your headshot session I’m available. I always bring my professional lights with me and can make anything work.

If you don’t have a space or if you feel uncomfortable having me come to you then we can rent a local photography studio, rent a show home, rent an Airbnb or you can always use a family member or friend’s home. Public spaces like coffee shops are also great options as long as the owners are happy to have us photograph there.

Another great option, depending on the season, is having our sessions outdoors. Depending on the content for your session.

I will help you during our planning consult to find the perfect location and make recommendations on what will work best. I have a list of affordable studios I like to use that I send to my clients.

• How much editing do you do to my pictures?

I take great pride in my naturally edited images. Meaning that I like to warm the skin tones appropriately (no one will look orange or too washed out) while preserving the colours of the clothes your wearing and the surrounding space.

I carefully edit each individual image, I never do any batch editing. I will re-touch the skin, clearing up any unwanted marks or skin complexions. I always ask my clients before I start photographing them, what their insecurities may be. That way I can be aware of them while shooting and in the final editing process. Whether that’s whiting the teeth a little, fixing an out of place stubborn hair, brightening under and around the eyes or softening hard lines on the face. I want your headshot to be how you see yourself in the mirror in the best way possible!

More advanced editing like tattoo removal or tan lines can be discussed depending on the level of difficulty and I can give you a custom quote based off of those needs.

If there are further tweaks needed to be made, after I’ve sent you your final gallery. Please just send me an email on what you would like and we can discuss it. I want you to love your pictures.

• How long does it take to get my portrait taken?

If you have booked me for a corporate headshot session, on average each person only needs 5-7 minutes. At most 10 minutes. While it may seem short, once we're set up and in position, with my help from expert posing, it goes quite fast. I always show every client the back of my camera to get your first right of approval over your image. I want you to be happy with your headshot and we can re-take it as many times as you need till your happy with it. Trust the process, when it comes to posing, lighting, and most importantly the editing which will come later.

• What about hair and makeup?

I think professional hair and makeup is a great addition, their professionals for a reason and I’m happy to give names to you that I trust. I have worked with these people for years. It can help elevate your photos but also give you more confidence to get in front of the camera.

• What do I wear?

My best advice, wear what you feel most confident in! I suggest bringing 2-3 outfits and remember more is always better. I suggest bringing more than you think is necessary, just in case.

If we are shooting on a white backdrop with the plans to have a digital white background edited in. Please avoid wearing white.

• What is a model release?

This is a really common question I get. Once we’ve settled on a date for our shoot I will send over a standard headshot and portrait contract.

The model release clause in my contract is so that I can use the images in my portfolio and show them to other potential clients. Just like you’ve seen images of other people in my portfolio that led you here, sharing current work is important for my business. I’m very proud of the work I do and if it can draw inspiration or reassurance for my clients that’s greatly appreciated. Of course, if you’re not comfortable with the model release, I can remove it. Please reach out to me to discuss it further.

• Do I own my own pictures?

Short answer is yes, you do own your own pictures. As do I! Which is where copyright comes in. In Canada, copyright clauses states that whoever is the one to press the shutter release, whoever is taking the picture on the camera, owns the copyright. My clients are always allowed to use the images in whatever capacity they want. You can crop them for your websites, social media and any advertisements that you do, whether that be for print or online.
