What a beautiful session to share today! Chariti & Matt’s University of Alberta Botanic Garden engagement session just outside of Edmonton. Truly a pair of beautiful humans, I adore them and they adore me equally back and it makes my heart so happy. When i just click with a couple and it’s like I’ve been friends with them for years, is never something I take for granted. It can be rare that that connection happens, but it is always my goal. Because when you get that instant and comfortable connection your shoot and the wedding day are so much easier. Way less stress, and just way more fun!

Chariti and Matt will tie the knot in this exact same location the next summer. It’s always fun to shoot a casual session in the same spot where you will get married. Especially when the backdrop is stunning like it is here at the Botanic Gardens. A very popular spot in Edmonton, but can you blame us? Every where you turn is another photo opt. I have to laugh, it’s almost a little overwhelming sometimes. You know what they say, less is more. But don’t get the wrong idea, of course I’m happy to shoot here!

It’s my job to weed out the distraction all while highlighting the scene around us, where we are. Especially if it’s a spot that is important to the couple. All while making my subject shine, I want to make sure they stand out. I don’t want them to get lost in the image. Which is why when there’s a lot to work with and look at, it actually makes it harder to photograph in sometimes. Personally I would say mission accomplished with these two. I can’t wait to see these two again!
