The Wedding day
I’ll admit I don’t get a chance to photograph a lot of October weddings, peak wedding season is between June and September when it’s arguably the warmest out in Canada. But there’s something to be said for a deep fall wedding, and by that, I mean seriously underrated! A few downside’s of a summer wedding has to be the sheer heat and mosquitoes, I really appreciate the comfortable temperature of an October wedding. Sure sometimes you may run the risk of snow but if you’re not afraid of that then I say go for an October wedding. We didn’t have any snow this year so I’d say we lucked out all around!
I also really appreciate it when all the wedding events are held at one venue, especially when the couple decides to do a first look as Catherine and Deryck did! It’s nice for the guest not to have to travel anywhere and we could all roll right from the ceremony to the reception just across the hall. We did do a change of scenery for their portraits. First, we headed down to the Muttart Conservatory where Catherine and Deryck saw each other for the first time. They exchanged private vows on a hill just outside the pyramids and both of them were giggly and giddy with excitement!
Catherine and Deryck seriously put a lot of thought and effort into how the room looked and felt I could tell with their fall decor. But by far my favourite details we’re all the accents that connected them as a couple at the reception. These two are into all things sci-fi! Lego’s on the tables, Harry Potter candy bar, and a Doctor Who cake topper! And please tell me you noticed Catherine’s ring! Wink wink, nudge nudge*
At the end of the day the wedding was a blast with lots of dancing, thank you Catherine and Deryck for having me capture your special day I loved it so much!
