This shoot is a complete dream come true for me, the big reason I love doing styled shoots is it really gives me a chance to break out of my comfort zone to attempt new ideas and concepts, to work with new vendors and really make something that I think is beautiful in every aspect.

I’ve been truly inspired by ballet for a couple of years now ever since I watched First Position on Netflix (I highly recommend you watch it if you haven’t yet!) and I just fell in love with the grace and elegance that ballerinas have, I really feel like I would like to shoot more dancers in the future and styled shoots like this one as it was so much fun! I had put out a model call for ballet dancers on point and luckily for me Jamie answered, this beautiful girl and I clicked right away which is just always the best feeling in the world. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized its pretty rare when you instantly connect with someone, right now Jamie is off on the east coast of Canada for school but I hope when she gets back we’ll reconnect!

Jamie did professional ballet for a number a years before leaving to focus more on university but she was still able to do so many fantastic ballet positions, things I could only dream of doing. We teamed up with Kalene from KW Beauty who did some lovely make-up for us, and the Floral Studio at Holes for the headpiece and garland. I normally do bridal styled shoots but I’m trying to branch out and do other styled shoots that aren’t technically bridal, although I do love photographing women in beautiful white gowns I know there’s a lot more I can do there. Speaking of which keep your eyes open I have a lot of other exciting styled bridal shoots coming up this summer, but it is always fun to do other things too.

I’m so excited to share this shoot, we almost had to cancel due to unfavourable weather but luckily for us the rained held off and the sun came out a little at the end just for us. So enjoy!
